Japanese Spirit and Western Learning: The Future of MHC Research—Learning from the World and Sharing with the World

This English wording is an editorial translation of the official Japanese theme, “和魂洋才 ～世界に学び世界に示すMHC研究の未来～.” The theme expresses the goal of preserving perspectives rooted in Japanese tradition while actively incorporating advanced international knowledge and technologies to create new academic value and communicate research achievements from Japan to the global community.

• Figures and Tables: Not permitted
• Research Ethics: Research involving human participants must comply with applicable Japanese ethical guidelines for life-science and medical research
• Conflict of Interest: The first author must disclose the COI status of all authors in the presentation

JSHI Academic Encouragement Award

The Academic Encouragement Award recognizes outstanding early-career investigators in histocompatibility and immunogenetics and supports continued research in the field.

• Membership: Applicants must be regular JSHI members
• Age: In principle, 45 years of age or younger as of April 1, 2026
• Abstract Requirement: Applicants must submit a general abstract as the first author
• Research Requirement: The submitted study must not have been previously presented at a JSHI meeting
• Top Award: One recipient
• Additional Awards: Several outstanding recipients may be selected
• Top Award Prize: JPY 100,000
• Selection: Based on application documents and the scientific presentation during the meeting
• Publication Requirement: Award recipients are generally required to submit an original article or review to MHC within three months

Young Investigator Award

The Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding poster presentations by early-career researchers.

• Membership: Applicants must be regular JSHI members
• Presentation: Applicants must present a poster as the first author
• Age: Younger than 40 years at the time of entry
• Application Limit: One abstract per applicant
• Research Group Limit: No more than two applicants and two abstracts from the same research group
• Selection: Outstanding poster presentations will be selected and recognized by the Meeting President
