The 78th Annual Meeting of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan will bring together researchers, engineers, students, and professionals from academia, industry, and government to present and discuss research spanning fundamental and applied biotechnology. The three-day meeting will include award ceremonies, oral presentations, 28 symposia, international programs, luncheon seminars, exhibitions, and initiatives supporting students and early-career researchers.

The meeting registration fee includes access to the PDF version of the Meeting Abstracts. Consumption tax is included where applicable. Members of designated MOU partner societies may register under the same conditions as SBJ members after obtaining the required ID and password from their society secretariat.
Presentation and Abstract Submission
- Submission Period: April 10 (Fri)–May 20 (Wed), 2026, 12:00 noon JST
- Current Status: Submissions for oral and symposium presentations have closed.
- Oral Presentation Eligibility: SBJ members who have paid their 2026 membership fee
- Presentation Limit: One oral presentation per person
- General Presentation Format: All general presentations will be delivered orally.
- Presentation Duration: 12 minutes, consisting of a 9-minute presentation, 2 minutes and 30 seconds for discussion, and 30 seconds for presenter changeover
- Symposium Abstracts: Submission was limited to speakers invited by symposium organizers.
- Student Excellent Presentation Award: Outstanding presentations by student members will be considered for recognition.

Meeting Overview
The first morning of the meeting will feature the Awards Ceremony and Award Lectures, followed by general oral presentations, award lectures, and symposia. All general presentations will be delivered orally, providing opportunities for direct discussion between presenters and participants.
Six symposium proposals from SBJ research divisions have been adopted, alongside international symposia and sessions addressing emerging biotechnology topics. Selected general presentations are also expected to be introduced more broadly as meeting topics, while outstanding presentations by student members will be recognized through the Student Excellent Presentation Award.
The exhibition at Gymnasium 2 will provide information on laboratory instruments, reagents, books, technologies, and research services. The adjacent Student Career Exhibition is intended to help students and young researchers learn about biotechnology-related employers, research and development positions, and potential career paths through direct interaction with participating organizations.
The meeting will also feature luncheon seminars, a young researcher networking event, a DE&I workshop, and an evening banquet, creating opportunities for scientific exchange, industry-academia interaction, professional networking, and career development.
